Fresque (fresco)

Mural painted on freshly applied and not yet dry plaster. The technique is, just like the term itself of Italian origin.
The most beautiful and famous frescos in Saône-et-Loire are to be seen in the Chapelle des Moines in Berzé-la-Ville.
The fresco in the picture is from the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption in Gourdon.
The word fresco is often muddled up with détrempe or tempera.
