Tribune (tribune)

Covered gallery above the bas-côtés (aisles) or the narthex of a church, with arcatures allowing looking out on the nef (nave).
When the corridor has the same width as the aisle underneath it, it is referred to as a tribune; otherwise it is a triforium.
In the picture the tribune above the narthex of the Sainte-Madeleine in Charnay-lès-Mâcon.
See also triforium.
